PRP Therapy

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is the process of using the healing factors in your own blood to help treat a wide variety of issues including joint pain, hair loss, and wrinkles. While the medical techniques vary based on location, the process of what is done is the same.

What is PRP?

The Process

1. A small amount of your blood is drawn, the blood is then place in a centrifuge, and spun at a high rate of speed which causes the blood to separate.

2. The separation of the blood allows for easy extraction of the platelet-rich plasma, which is the part of the blood containing hundreds of proteins that are vital to the healing process.

3. After the plate-rich plasma is drawn from the vial, one of our physicians injects the PRP into the area that has been causing issues.

4. The proteins in the PRP start to repair damaged tissue and  stimulate regrowth in the traumatized area.

Results

This procedure can reduce pain, increase mobility, slow the damage to cartilage in the injected area and potentially even regrow cartilage over time.

Side Effects

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is a great non-surgical option as it has limited side effects.  Since it's a person own blood adverse reactions are rare. Side effects could include minimal pain, infection, irritation, bleeding and or redness around the injection site.
